Lois Ann (Easson) Haskell     February 28, 1931 - January 23rd, 2019
Lois Ann (Easson) Haskell (87) died of natural causes January 23rd, 2019 in Coos Bay, Oregon.  Lois lived until recently at Harbor Village on Bay Blvd., in Newport, Oregon.  She and her husband Bob (who passed in 2014) made that spot their home since retiring in 2000.  They always cherished their good luck to be living on the Oregon Coast, appreciating the fact that anytime they came back from the valley (especially in the summer), feeling the hot valley air become suddenly cool and inviting.  They also loved seeing the ocean as they crested the hill on Hwy 20 just coming into Newport, knowing they were almost home, always thankful and feeling blessed.
Lois and Bob made a life in Newport making friends and volunteering at the local library, the Aquarium Hospice, and helped start the local chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Health (NAMI).  Whether enjoying the sunset with family at the south jetty watching the fishing boats come in, appreciating the many sea birds, or watching seals feeding on the schools of pacific herring coming into the bay, or just the chance sighting of a pod of dolphins heading back out to sea, they never took the pleasures of living on the coast for granted and enjoyed sharing their favorite spots with visiting family and friends.  Lois was not a valley girl and was able to spend the last of her days knowing the love of her family and that, too, the ocean she loved was right nearby.
Lois Ann Easson was born on February 28, 1931 in Wakefield, Massachusetts and grew up in Melrose, Massachusetts with her loving parents Margaret and William and two sisters Marcia and Andie.  Lois married Robert Haskell in Melrose, Massachusetts in 1950 and they soon started a family having 4 children, losing the last child at birth.  A change of course and career brought the family with 3 small children west by train to start a new life in California settling in San Jose.  After 10 years with the kids now in their teens, and again seeking new opportunities, the family picked up and moved to Beaverton, Oregon.  In the years that followed they lived for a time in Kelso, Washington (when nearby Mt. St. Helens erupted) but ended up back in Oregon working as property managers in the valley eventually retiring to the coast they so much loved.
Lois is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Cathy and Andy Walker of Corvallis, Oregon; her son and daughter-in-law Richard Haskell and Wendy Haack of North Bend, Oregon; her son David Haskell of Tucson, AZ; as well as her sister Andy Phillips of Crossett, Arkansas, and her sister Marcia Martin of Melrose, Mass.
As they requested, Lois's and Bob's ashes will be scattered at their favorite spot on the cliffs over-looking the Pacific Ocean.
